Minor 7th Chords Applied

Minor 7th chords play an important role in several popular music forms. Basically, they are used just prior to a strong Dominant 7th chord. This softens the migration to the stronger Dominant 7th chord.

For example, before playing a D7 chord play an Am7 chord. This produces a smooth harmonic transition to the strong D7 chord. A few examples of this technique are presented below. You will enjoy the smooth sound.
