Introducing Barre Chords I
To round out our accompaniment chord vocabulary we will now review the great Barre Chords.
These chords are very versatile and are movable up and down the guitar fingerboard. They will,
however, require a substantial amount of practice before they sound correct. The Root (or name)
note is shaded in the diagram. ![]()
Notice, in the F Major diagram, the broken or dashed line running through the first fret. This is the Barre. The first finger is placed over all six strings. Then the 2, 3, and 4th fingers are applied to the appropriate strings and frets. Sound complicated? You bet. Notice the numbered chart to the right of each diagram. The chart tells us the name of the chord as we move up the fingerboard. Good Luck and keep at it. |
