fret position of guitar chords. The diagram is a picture of the upper portion of the guitar neck.
The dark bar, under the word "Diagram" is the guitar's nut.
The thin lines running left to right within the diagram indicate guitar frets.
In the diagram, four frets are indicated. They are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4. Guitars vary as to the total number of frets placed within the guitar fingerboard.
The lines running top to bottom within the diagram indicate guitar strings.
They are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, ,5 6 - with the sixth string on the left side
and the 1st string on the right side of the fingerboard. The 1st string is the thin string.
The 6th string is the thick string.
